Obesity

Obesity is caused by unhealthy diet, lack of physical activity, and at times it can be hereditary. 

There is an increased prevalence in childhood obesity which can lead to metabolic and cardiovascular comorbidities (i.e. hypertension, dyslipidemia, and type 2 diabetes mellitus).(1)

Body Mass Inbox (BMI) > 30 is considered obese while a BMI between 30-25 is overweight.

Normal BMI is between 18.5 to 25.

The Bigger Picture of Adolescent Obesity

The figure (2) above shows the prevalence of overweight (and obese) that has increased in several low-income and middle-income countries.
In this study, they defined "Nutrition Security" an assured supply, availability, and affordability of adequate food for a healthy diet. Nutrition security has many threats such as access to food markets, knowledge, low income, and promotion to consume unhealthy products.(2)
A study sample about the prevalence of hypertension had 77.19% which meant a large number of overweight or obese children have a high blood pressure at an early age.(3)
